Cupertino – The Mothership
On Sunday 10th June, a group of us visited the Apple Company Store in Cupertino, California. It was a major geek-fest, with two carloads of us travelling the 40-odd miles (64km) down Highway 101 from San Francisco to Apple, Inc. Headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino.Without the organisation of Andrew Jeffrey from the Apple University Consortium we would have had to bus it down there. Thanks Andrew!

The Toaster Oven
After the long flight and the lack of food from Air New Zealand, off we went in search of something decent to eat. And we found it at The Toaster Oven. Think of it as a classier Subway.

Good flight. Average flight.
Arrived safely into San Francisco (tired and hungry). The Boeing 777 planes are very quiet inside which makes it possible to have a conversation without screaming at the person next to you.
Melbourne to Auckland flight was smooth all the way, but about halfway to San Francisco we hit some rough spots – sleep was hard to find after that.
Will be heading out shortly for some photos and a bit of familiarisation of the downtown area.

WWDC E-ticket
Entry to WWDC is with an E-ticket, redeemable at registration prior to the conference. Here’s what it looks like in the Apple Developer Connection website:

8 days to go
Only 8 days to go until WWDC kicks off.
I’ve been progressively working out which sessions I will be attending. It’s a tough choice given all the great content on offer.
Some of the key sessions I will be going to are:
- Keynote (a.k.a. Stevenote)
- Scripting for SysAdmins
- Bending Directory Services To Your Will: Best Practices
- Deploying Large-scale Storage Solutions using Xsan and Xserve RAID
- Getting Started with Xray
- Tracing Software Behavior with DTrace
- Mac OS X Security Configuration
- Using Xray and DTrace for In-depth Analysis
- Building System Images for Large-scale Deployments
- Understanding Managed Deployment
